A self-tan that tans AND sculpts the body? Score!
That’s exactly what UTan, the fake tan range from new brand Ultimo Beauty, is designed to do. Developed over 3 years by Ultimo founder Michelle Mone OBE, this non-streak, non-smell fake tan is exactly what us beach-shy types have been looking for as it delivers a gorgeous, deep tan whilst shaping the contours of your body too. Gisele better watch out…
Available in seven key products, including two shades of self-tan mousse, two shades of self-tan lotion and gradual facial tan. The collection also includes a Diamond Dust Body Exfoliator, a must before using self-tan (and I love that it has diamond powder in too, bling!)
Michelle commented: “UTan has been really exciting not least because it is Ultimo’s first foray into the beauty market having made our name in lingerie and fashion. I knew from the outset that I wanted the colour to be unrivalled and deliver that perfect colour that wouldn’t have any of those tell tale fake tan smells. It’s taken three years of development and I’m really proud of the UTan range as there’s a tan for everyone.”
Available from Ultimo Beauty and selected retailers including Harrods, Selfridges, Boots and Debenhams, prices start from £15.

Not another BB Cream I hear you cry! But yes there is and my word, this is the creme de la creme – literally. Estée Lauder DayWear B•B Creme SPF35 gives great coverage, far better than its competetors and is a little thicker than other BB Creams on the market. One of the things I love most about this BB Creme is the smell – think freshly cut cucumbers. It really points to the super antioxidant complex within the BB Creme, your skin’s much needed superfoods to deliver all manner of goodness and nutrition which is ideal in this weather. Plus, it has an SPF of 35 too. For me, it’s the ultimate in no fuss but fancy skincare – great for everything from a light coverage to acting as a primer underneath your normal foundation on a night out. Quite a brilliant little cream!
Want to try the amazing Estée Lauder DayWear B•B Creme SPF35? We’re offering you the chance with our exclusive offer of a perfectly sized 5ml tube. Simply click here to say hello your skin’s new BFF.

Just for a change of scenery, I thought I’d take a look at what’s new in men’s body care and was lucky enough to come across lovely quaint British brand Heathcote & Ivory. They’ve just launched a range of products for men, simply entitled er… MEN, aimed at ‘the adventurous, fun loving man that wants toiletries that perform as well as they smell.’
I absolutely loved the Rule Britannia packaging – each product comes in a box, making it a great gift for brothers, boyfriends or fathers – and was pleasantly surprised at the extremely reasonable price. The products look much more expensive than they were – at just £7 for the shower gel and £6 for the gigantic soap on a rope, you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
Seeing as the products are aimed at the gents, I handed the Lime and Basil Body Wash and Lime and Basil Soap on a Rope (each packed with an energising blast of fresh citrus, bergamot, lime, orange and aromatic fennel and sweet basil oil) over to my brother and asked for a report back.
“The soap gave a really luxurious lather,” he told me under questioning. “You only needed to use a tiny bit to get a lot of soap suds. The rope is convenient for hanging it up on the tap and had a really lovely deep-cleaning feeling, but it was moisturising rather than drying like most soaps.”
He was also a fan of the body wash. “The shower gel was really thick and expensive-feeling,” he said. “The smell is refreshing and citrussy and manly but not overpoweringly scented.”
All this from a man who uses body cream on his face – I think this range is definitely a winner.

It seems the perfect day to write about Philosophy‘s new Keep the Peace range as the Autumn wind and rain batter against my window. It’s not cold yet, but winter is definitely on its way and for those who suffer from hypersensitive, red and irritated skin, these cold months can be an absolute skin nightmare.

Enter Philosophy‘s new range, aimed for people with sensitive, reactive skin often affected by stress, harsh weather and fatigue. I really love the Philosophy brand – it’s scientific without coming across as clinical and while the little philosophies on the front of the boxes don’t help your face – they certainly make you feel good.
My skin is generally not too sensitive but having been hit with a horrible cold for the last week, when I tested these products my skin was red and extremely sensitive, which happens when I get sick. It happened to be handy timing to test the range, particularly with the face pack, as I spent half of my week in the bath feeling sorry for myself and trying to inhale steam. I have to say I love face packs, but I absolutely adored the Super Soothing Instant Relief Mask for Redness and Sensitivity. It had the consistency of a clay mask but didn’t dry like cement, meaning it was comfortable to leave on. It’s a pale grey colour and creamy consistency and had a scent I would describe as particularly soothing and subtle – it reminded me of the face packs I used to watch my mum use as a child. I left it on for a little longer than prescribed which was absolutely fine – when I rinsed my face, it came off easily (no sticking to the side of the nose on in the eyebrows as can happen with clay masks). My skin felt soothed and looked smooth, my pores looked smaller and I didn’t even need to moisturise after – truly a treat.
The Super Soothing Serum for Redness and Sensitivity is an extra step to use after cleansing and before moisturiser and is uses antioxidants to protect your skin from the environment and acts as a barrier from dryness and redness. I really liked the bottle which is like a traditional medicinal dropper which you use to put a few drops into your palm before applying to the face. I rarely use serum but I loved this one – it’s like a fine oil, again with a very subtle, natural smell, and made my skin feel like velvet. It was particularly soothing on the dry areas around my nose from the cold and the tired area around my eyes. I wasn’t sure if it would sink in but within two minutes it had, meaning my skin was ready for the moisturiser.
Finally, the Keep the Peace Super Soothing Moisturiser for Redness and Sensitivity comes in a generous pot and was a lovely product – a thick, luxurious cream with moisturising seed extract and soothing bark extract. It was a pleasure to use and left my skin feeling luxuriously smooth and hydrated.
This range has been a bit of a revelation for me. I didn’t think my skin was particularly sensitive but having used these products, I realised just how good it made my skin feel. Definitely a range I will continue to use and I would recommend to anyone suffering from hypersensitivity and redness. The range isn’t in stores yet but will be available in Boots from October – so you can collect points on it too!

Burgundy, just-drunk-half-a-bottle-of-Merlot stained lips may not seem a likely look for the upcoming season, but trust us – wine-coloured lips are absolutely huge for Autumn and Winter, as seen the catwalks at Yves Saint Laurent, Hermes and Gucci. However, supermodels aside, we know it’s an easy look to get wrong, so to make life easier for our readers, I’ve tried and tested the latest lipsticks to find the looks that are less wino and more winning!
Dior Addict Lipstick in Stiletto
I’m a huge fan of Dior Addict lip colours – they give a gorgeous sheer colour, smell and even taste divine and are as moisturising as wearing a lip balm. This season, the lipsticks have been given a makeover and are looking better than before. Stiletto is the perfect shade to try for this season’s berry look and as ever, I absolutely loved the deep plummy colour, my fuller-looking lips and the sheer, not-too-full-on coverage the product gives. If you’re scared of too bold a lip, this is the one for you – I suggest putting the product onto your finger and then patting on for that just-bitten look.

Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine in Bird of Paradise
If you want to try a strong lip but can’t quite step away from the gloss and towards a full-on berry lipstick, this gorgeous gloss, from one of Australia’s best-selling brands, is for you. It’s more of a soft strawberry than a full on raspberry shade with beautiful and very classy packaging, but it’s the texture that really sold this product to me – a pout-boosting glossy feel thanks to the collagen, which really added volume to my lips – and a long-lasting shine without that horrid sticky feeling of having my hair stick to my freshly made-up lips. You can try a luxury sample of this product once they arrive from the land down under – watch this space!

The Lipstick Collection by Kate in no.4
I couldn’t write a piece about lipstick this week without including one of Kate Moss’s first ever lipsticks for Rimmel London. They have just been released in seven fashion-forward shades (number 4 is forth in the image below), most of which are not for the faint of heart – they contain a black diamond pigment which makes the colour very strong. Number 4 is a deep, vampy plum. It’s a full-on gothic shade meant to make a statement – remember Rebecca Ferguson from last year’s X-Factor? The lipstick is matte and not as moisturising as some others but the colour is deep and full-on. I’d give it a try – if you dare!

The smooth chocolatey scents, the high level of moisturisation and the non greasy formula are perfect traits to lure anyone into the cult product that is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. Even the driest of skin is soothed with their body range, also offering even skin tone and reduced redness from one little cream!
The holy grail status has now being remastered into facial skin care. An entire range that promises more even, radiant and more younger looking skin. There’s not a part of that sentence I don’t like. And all, of course, loaded with cocoa and shea butters…though the scent is reworked for the more sensitive skin on the face – expect lily instead of chocolate.
The competitively priced range, exclusive to Superdrug, means all our skin prayers are answered! Even those looking for an anti-ageing product can find it here. The Night Renewal Cream and Line Smoothing tick all the boxes in that respect, while the rest of the range offers good healthy skin.
I can picture it now, the dreamy smooth skin that everyone lusts over, just a cleanse, scrub and moisturise away!

The colour blocking trend is at its height right now. Every where I look I seem to be seeing bright red blazers, a luminous hand bag or even pink hair. It’s time to put in that extra detail, and take colour blocking to your nails.
All you need is neatly shaped, clean nails; pick your favourite Glamour to Go neon shade, then you are good to go! I always find neon brights look best on short nails, to avoid it looking like you’re channeling the 80s.
Measure the sticker up to your nail, making sure the edges fit to size – if not, just gradually thin the strip with scissors – then stick on the nail, smooth down and file off any excess.
Available in six fluoro shades you can match it up to your outfit daily, or take the trend in hand and clash it for an extra colour blocking hit. But the best part has to be that they aren’t going to chip or crack, so that’s one trend you’ll easily be able to ride until the end of summer.
A long lasting, on trend manicure for just £3.50 – what more could you ask for?

I think we all know that dry shampoo is a beauty essential now. Whether it’s reserved purely for festivals or a quick refresh after a long day, we all have one lurking amongst our beauty products.
Good for us then that there’s another contender on the market. Girlz Only. Easy to lovingly impulse buy as it’s available at Tesco stores nationwide for just £1.50. Potentially the cheapest dry shampoo option and avalable in 3 scents for every occasion. You’ve got your fruity, citrus and floral scents just waiting to be added to your weekly shop.
You’ve also got every need catered to, offering clean, bouncy, volumised locks with just a spritz and a quick massage into the roots. I can’t say I think washing my hair is a chore, but I know I prioritise my dry shampoo can over the oodles of products waiting for me in the shower. The appeal of not having to use water seems to tug at my hair strings…
I can practically hear you mentally comparing it to the other obvious dry shampoo option, but I think we all have room for another product to join the race, don’t we?
