Silly made-up words are usually reserved for the fashion industry (jeggings, anyone?) but the world of beauty isn’t completely innocent. Step forward Hersheson salons, who’ve just launched a new collection of trend-inspired hairpieces and cleverly chosen to create a witty new moniker for the clip-in fringe. Any guesses?
Allow me to introduce you to the Winge.
The name might be a bit silly, but the product itself is actually great choice for commitment-phobes who want a change but don’t want to risk getting a real fringe cut. Having spent many years growing out an assortment of bad fringes (two words – cow lick) I think these are a great idea for a dramatic change, and they cost less than a cut and blow-dry. They also look more natural than some of the previous clip-in fringes that I’ve seen on the market.
The Winge (argh!) comes in two styles, The Sharp (a classic heavy fringe) or The Rock Chick (a more feathered style) for £30 at ASOS. There’s also a hair bow (£26) for a bit of Lady Gaga style, and options for various stylish up-dos including a voluminous beehive. All the hairpieces come in 4 colours. Alas, none of them look remotely like my particular shade of dirty blonde!
