Our Caroline Barnes – Beauty Expert Edition is our latest collection, which contains a lineup of skincare and makeup must-haves from the likes of Murad, Illamasqua, KJH x Spectrum, Sculpted by Aimee, and many more. This edit helps you create a variety of looks from easy everyday looks to bold evening looks.
As beauty enthusiasts, we love experimenting with beauty products and this Beauty Expert Edition has all the essentials you need to create different looks. We, at team LiB, decided to create three makeup looks: a day look, a night look and a no-makeup makeup look.
Check out our beauty tips and our favourite products from the edit to help us create our looks:
Day Look
Lauren, our Business Development Director, created a day look that’s perfect for brunch dates with friends or a casual date.
For her makeup base, she used brush 06 to apply her foundation (Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation in 6.5) and brush 03 to softly buff everything in using light circular motions.
Some may skip shimmery eye makeup for a day look but not Lauren. “I never shy away from sparkles or eyeliner for the day,” she says. To help her green eyes stand out, she used three shades (Hamlet, Medea and Portia) from Illamasqua’s eyeshadow palette to create a soft light feline smoke around her eyes, followed by Trish McEvoy’s eyeliner on her lids for a soft, smudged eyeliner look. To finish her eye makeup look, she dabbed a tiny bit of e.l.f cosmetic’s glitter eyeshadow to the centre of her eye lids for a little extra pop.
Her cheek makeup includes Daniel Sandler’s liquid blush to add a pop of colour to her cheeks and Sculpted by Aimee’s liquid highlighter for a subtle glow. Lastly, she lined her lips with INIKA’s Organic Lip Pencil in Dusty Rose, combined with Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte Lipstick in Wifey to create the perfect pout.
Beauty Tip: “I found using the tips of my finger to lightly dab the highlighter onto my cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow works best before I use any powder to help set all my makeup.”

Night Look
Doné, our Campaign & Partnerships Manager, created a night look that’s perfect for nights out or if you’re a fan of bold makeup looks.
To ensure her makeup stays put and looks fresh throughout the night, she made sure to exfoliate her skin and applied James Read’s tanning drops the night before so her base was smoother and more even.
For her base makeup, she recommends waiting at least 10 minutes after your skincare routine before starting with application as an overly dewy complexion can impact the staying power of your base. She used her favourite Rose Inc Concealer in 2 shades (one for all over complexion and a lighter one for highlight) with the 06 brush before buffing it smoother with the 03 brush.
Doné’s secret to achieving a dramatic eye look without going overboard is to take your time blending. She used different sized eyeshadow brushes with the same shade of shadow and applied it in layers gradually to really deepen the blend. For a bolder finish, she applied Trish McEvoy’s eyeliner to the outer corners of her eye and smudged it for a smokey effect. And for a pop of sparkle, she added the e.l.f cosmetic glitter eyeshadow to her lids and the centre of her bottom lash line.
To counteract her bold eye look, she used a softer toned blush and used the 03 brush to apply it on her cheeks, and even tapped it onto her lips using her fingers. She finished her night look with Max Factor’s lipstick, which she applied on the centre of her pout for a hint of brightness and a ‘just kissed’ effect.
Beauty Tip: “My secret to achieving a dramatic eye look without going overboard with the amount of product used is to take your time blending. Patience is key here.”

No-Makeup Makeup Look
Romy, our Beauty Editor & Social Media Manager, created a no-makeup makeup look using only the essentials to achieve a natural look.
The key to achieving a no-makeup makeup look is to prioritise your skincare. So before applying my makeup, I focused on using the edit’s skincare products to give me fresh and hydrated skin. I started with Kate Somerville’s exfoliating treatment to gently exfoliate my skin and improve my skin texture. As someone with dehydrated skin plus hyperpigmentation, I need products that can nourish my skin and even out my skin tone. I mixed a few drops of James Read’s tanning drops with Murad’s cream and applied it to my face and décolletage.
To keep my eye makeup as natural as possible, I used Trish McEvoy’s eyeliner to tightline my upper waterline. If you have monolids like I do, try tightlining to define the natural shape of your eyes and make your eyes appear bigger. I also created a soft winged look using the shade Eponine from Illamasqua’s eyeshadow palette, which I applied using a flat brush.
Instead of applying blush, I went for a bronzer that’s a shade darker than my skin tone and applied it from the top of my cheeks and slowly blended it towards my temples for a natural and glowy flush. I finally coated my lips with NARS’ Afterglow Lip Balm in Dolce Vita and topped my lip look with Dior’s Lip Maximizer, which gives me natural-looking shiny, hydrated lips with added plumpness.
Beauty Tip: “The key to achieving a no-makeup makeup look is to prioritise your skincare.”
