Let’s begin on the sunny Greek island of Lesbos. This was where Maria grew up and where Maria first discovered her taste for fashion and beauty. It’s been said that as a teenager, Maria would treat friends to makeovers and would uncover some of the top skincare secrets from magazines. It was in Greece that Maria graduated from Athens University with a degree in English literature.

After graduating university and following a stint as a part-time beauty writer for Seventeen magazine, Maria headed to New York to study an MBA at Columbia Business School. Starting her career in corporate finance, it wasn’t long before she began to check out and her burning passion for beauty started to re-emerge. Maria left New York for London to set up her own business, not yet knowing the severity of what it was to become.
Spotting a gap in the market for a skincare range that would offer targeted treatments, it was in London where she followed her passion and instinct for beauty, founding Rodial in 1999. Maria endeavoured to offer viable alternatives to plastic surgery for specific problems and there was nothing like that at the time, thus spotting the perfect gap in the market. The brand is continually daring with its technology, branding and ingredients and has gone on to be stocked around the world in 25 countries and 2,000 luxury department stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Space NK, Harvey Nichols and Harrods.
