For this month’s Beauty Thread, I will be granting you insider access to my makeup bag. My everyday beauty stash gets switched up every couple of weeks (I mean, one face, 100s of products, you do the math) and this week I want to share with you some new additions from Maybelline that I have been using to help me look more put together on these extremely chilly mornings. A vivid lip colour cures all, right? What’s also exciting is the fact that these products will be available for you to try in your next box as of tomorrow – what a treat!
I must admit that I’m struggling with my brows at the moment, which is probably down to the fact that they’ve not been in for maintenance (AKA, threading) since before Christmas. I’ve been toying with the idea of having my brows microbladed – which is an ever-increasing trend across the industry- but to last me until my next appointment, I’ve found that the art to good brows can lie within a specific product. Tackling brows hair by hair with ultimate precision, Maybelline’s Tattoo Brow Tint Micro Pen in Medium Brown (which can be muted or intensified depending on how hard you apply) features a micro-thin tip for precision shaping, and long-lasting ink for all-day wear. I genuinely thought this would be too light and warm for my deep brown, ashy hair, but I was pleasantly surprised at the perfect colour match and achievable natural finish. I find using the micro-trident tip to draw small, hair-like strokes works best, however if you’re after more of a bold brow look, you can use the thick, flat section of the tip to fully fill in your brows.
I would like to tell you that the reason I have been opting for a red lip lately is because Valentine’s Day is approaching, and I have a hot date. Alas, I was taught not to lie. Red lips, however, are not just for date night; the power of a red lip can make you feel like you’re ready to take on the day, whatever it throws at you. On initial inspection, I discovered that the Maybelline Made for All Lipstick in Red For You smelt very potently of vanilla, and I wasn’t averse to it. This crisp and vibrant colour delivers a matte finish that locks in my look all day. Trust me, it lasts for ages – even through lunch and after work drinks. That’s impressive.
When it comes to my lashes, I’m routinely left in a state of frustration. I wasn’t gifted the lengthy, luscious lashes I long for, that’s for sure. I guess that’s down to my genes. Thanks, Mum! Thankfully, there’s a new wand on the block that promises to transform my lashes with minimal effort. Maybelline’s SnapScara! provides clean, clump-free volume in a snap, while the glossy gel-ink formula glides on smoothly for flake-free wear. I find this mascara easy to build up, and it lengthens and volumises without going spidery or clumpy. It’s a pleasing addition to my makeup bag because many mascaras can leave me looking more panda than Bridget Bardot, and that’s not a look I’d opt for voluntarily. The key with this mascara is to not let your lashes dry in between coats, simply keep layering while wet for ultimate volume.
Will you be adding Maybelline to your next box?
