Great skin starts with great ingredients, and that’s where this month’s Beauty Glow Down Edit Haul of Fame comes in – a certified one-pot wonder, this multitasking Wild Rose Beauty Balm from Neal’s Yard Remedies works hard to feed your skin and uncover your natural glow.

The balm has caught the eye of professionals and beauty editors alike, with skincare expert Caroline Hirons saying: “When my skin is having a particularly bad flare-up (acne rosacea…) I give it a really good double cleanse and then smother my face in this. Works wonders”. With that said, we’re uncovering all the sustainably sourced and certified organic ingredients inside, plus showing how versatile this balm really is with nine ways to use it!

BREAKING DOWN THE INGREDIENTS

Before we go into the uses of the balm, we wanted to throw a spotlight on the hero ingredients inside this one-pot wonder, because each element has its own, very important job!

ROSEHIP: Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, integral for tissue and skin regeneration. It’s also well known for wound healing properties and reducing the appearance of scars and fine lines.

GERANIUM OIL:  Thought to have antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as being beneficial for those with anxiety and depression.

PATCHOULI OIL: An essential oil used for various skin conditions, as well as relieving stress.

PROVITAMIN A: A source of retinol, and helps to speed up healing, prevent breakouts and support the skin’s immune system. It’s also naturally moisturising and helps hydrate the skin and give it a radiant glow.

VITAMIN E : An antioxidant, making it effective at combating the effects of free radicals, and is also thought to be beneficial for reducing UV damage to the skin.

JOJOBA OIL: Regulates sebum production because it’s so similar to the sebum that your body produces naturally. Soothes and moisturises skin, as well as keeping it from looking oily and helps prevent acne caused by clogged pores.

SHEA BUTTER: This contains a high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins to soften skin. It also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties to soothe and condition.

HEMP SEED OIL: Ideal for all skin types, this oil moisturises without clogging the pores. It balances oily skin (which leads to acne) by regulating oil production.

9 WAYS TO USE THE WILD ROSE BEAUTY BALM

EXFOLIATING CLEANSER

The Wild Rose Beauty Balm is the perfect daily cleanser as it is packed with antibacterial, antioxidant ingredients like rosehip and geranium. Massage a small amount of product into the face, then use a muslin cloth rinsed in warm water to remove as a gentle, exfoliating experience. Its texture makes it perfect for breaking down and removing makeup too!

MOISTURE BOOST

Complexion feeling dry during the colder weather? This little pot is a skincare saviour. A combination of ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter and hemp seed oil are contained within, all working together to lock in and retain water levels in the skin – et voila, the ideal moisturiser! After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount to the face, massaging in with an upward motion.

The editors at Good Housekeeping said, “Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm had one of the highest scores in the lab on retaining water levels in the skin, so the skin appears more radiant with an improved feel of skin hydration.”

HAIR TREATMENT

Due to its protecting properties, this balm is also great to use on the hair. During the summer months, massage a small amount through damp hair to protect it from salt and chlorine. Removal is easy, you just need a small amount of shampoo to apply to the hair before showering, and you’ll be left with shiny, sleek hair as a result!

MAKEUP PRIMER

After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount of the Wild Rose Beauty Balm to your cheekbones and other desired areas of your face prior to foundation. The smoothing properties make it a great primer for powder foundation and give you an enviable healthy radiance.

LIP SAVIOUR

Dry, chapped lips in need of some instant nourishment? Or perhaps you just want to give your lip look some extra shine… either way, you’ll be reaching for this pot! Think hemp seed oil, jojoba oil and shea butter, a moisturising combination that will give you equal amounts of hydration and beautiful shine.

NAIL AND HAND CREAM

Don’t just limit the enjoyments of this moisturising experience to the face – use on your nails and hands too. Apply a small amount to the palms and rub in circular motions, then rub the excess into the cuticles each night to encourage strong nail growth.

TAMING TREATMENT

The texture of the balm means it’s ideal as a tamer and smoother. Use a small amount on the brows to the hairs a sleek finish, or add a dewy edge to any makeup look by dabbing a small amount on the high points of your face like the cheekbones and brow bones too.

HEALER

Due to a combination of ingredients like rosehip, patchouli oil, geranium oil and vitamin E, this balm is known to encourage healing. Apply to burns after running under cool water to prevent blistering, or apply a small amount to the lint area of a plaster when covering cuts and scrapes. If you have a bug bite, apply a small amount directly to relieve the sting and help prevent itching, or if you suffer from skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, this formula is said to help when applied to dry, irritated skin post-bath or shower.

MASKING

For an extra nourishing boost, after thoroughly cleansing and exfoliating the face, slather on the Wild Rose Beauty Balm. Use as a mask by covering the face with a warm washcloth or muslin for ten minutes, or use a smaller amount as an overnight mask.  leave this formula on, treating it as a mask for 30 minutes, or overnight as a mask.
