This year’s Sarah Jossel Edit is better than ever. Offering an outstanding selection of the best beauty from her 2021 column and featuring 16 tried and tested products that we think truly deliver. At a value of £290, this edit offers one of our biggest beauty savings yet. We could not be more excited to share this edit with you.
But why did they make the cut? This edit is truly curated, and only features products that have been approved by The Sunday Times Style’s Beauty Director Sarah Jossel, as she uncovers the very best each week. But why did she love them and what did she have to say?
Check out some soundbites from Sarah, and some tips from LiB on how to get the most out of each product…

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
Sarah recommended this cult product from Paulas’s choice as a way to incorporate BHA into your routine.
“Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) in skincare usually refers to salicylic acid — a godsend for anyone prone to blemishes”
LiB Tip: Use a cotton pad (ideally reusable) so that you can target areas where you have blemishes, blocked pores or are particularly oily.
Dr Hauschka Translucent Bronzing Tint
“I highly recommend Dr Hauschka Translucent Bronzing Tint. It gives a soft, natural radiance to your look without adding any extra steps.”
LiB Tip: Why not use in place of a bronzer, for a more natural effect.
Darphin Hydraskin Cooling Hydrating Gel Mask
“Your skin caffeine hit. It energises and refreshes.”
LiB Tip: To maximise absorption and hydration, apply to damp skin after showing or cleansing.
Sculpted by Aimee Cream Luxe Blush in Peach Pop
On her live Instagram IGTV unboxing, Sarah described the blush as gorgeous and admired the texture. We could not agree more.
“The Irish make-up artist was my golden lockdown find. The whole range is second to none”
LiB Tip: Apply it directly after you’ve applied your base (without waiting for it to dry down) so it can really melt into the skin and the base, leaving a perfectly blended result.
Spectrum Collections Pink B01 Flat Top Buffer Brush
On her live Instagram IGTV unboxing, Sarah talks about the brush.
“I want [my makeup] to look like it’s part of me, this is where you get your buff brush and you can just really buff in, it’s great for getting the sides of the nose, under the eyes…and it’s Spectrum, did I say Spectrum? Vegan, cruelty-free goes without saying.”
LiB Tip: Remember to wash your brushes regularly to get the most out of them. Brushes perform best when clean and fresh!
StriVectin Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum
“The glow-giver that delivers vitamin C and retinol in one”
LiB Tip: Use in the PM to help battle pigmentation and uneven tone, or in the day for added glow and antioxidant protection.
St.Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse 50ml & Dual Sided Luxe Applicator Mitt
“I recommend St Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse for a winter-bronzed finish”
LiB Tip: For a seamless and flawless finish, make sure to exfoliate your skin well and apply moisturiser to knees, elbows, ankles and hands before application.
AMELIORATE Transforming Body Lotion in Rose
“Ameliorate Rose Transforming Body Lotion has an array of impressive properties. First, it gives your skin that “golden hour” rosy gleam. But it does more than that. The balmy texture is also a secret exfoliator (I say secret because there is none of the usual graininess) that smooths away back-of-the-arm bumps and upper-leg roughness.”
LiB Tip: Apply extra to stubborn areas (think – body masking) and wear overnight. Be sure to wear some PJs so you don’t spoil your sheets.
Vita Liberata Body Blur in Latte
“It’s my fail-safe for an all-over bronzed glow that doesn’t transfer on to clothes. A quick tip for bruises, veins, scratches and so on is to mix in your usual foundation to achieve a fuller coverage.”
LiB Tip: As advised, it’s best to use a mitt for a smooth application and if applying to the face – use a makeup brush! Easy.
Benefit Roller Lash Curling Mascara in Black
“My favourite thing about this brush, created with hair rollers in mind, is the very short bristles. It means you can really smoosh it (unofficial word) into the roots without it touching the surrounding skin.”
LiB Tip: Don’t pump the brush. As tempting as it seems, this forces air into the tube making it dry out faster and also allows bacteria to enter.
Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV Protection Mist SPF 50
“I’m also completely taken with Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV Protection Mist SPF 50. Zero greasiness, won’t give you spots and the ultra-fine transparent mist genuinely doesn’t mess with make-up.”
LiB Tip: It goes without saying but make sure you reapply generously throughout the day, and shake well before use.
NAILS. INC Time For A Reset Plant Power Vegan Nail Polish
“We also love the warm coral of Nails Inc Time for a Reset”
LiB Tip: For an ultra-long lasting mani and pedi (matchy-matchy), apply a base coat, then two coats of this polish and a top coat after. Make sure each coat is perfectly dry before applying the next.
RevitaLash® Advanced Eyelash Conditioner
“It has been six weeks and … where did my new eyelashes come from? They are longer and luscious and feathery and fluffy. This stuff works.”
LiB Tip: Here it’s all about compliance. Pop it by the side of your bed so you remember to apply it EVERY evening and you will truly see the results.
THE INKEY LIST Niacinamide
“Don’t you just love the Inkey List for calling it what it is? A hero for oily skin, this decongests complexions and regulates oil production.”
LiB Tip: For best results, use twice daily and apply directly to the skin after cleansing, before any other products.
REFY Brow Pencil in Medium
“Oh my. The needle-thin, highly pigmented yet still somehow very creamy tip is an absolute treat for filling in sparse areas and gaps. It works on all shapes, but those with very thin brows be prepared to rejoice.”
LiB Tip: Comb your brows into place first so you can see where there are any gaps and get the product placed perfectly.
Ciaté London – Conditioning Lip Oils
“…leaves lips feeling soft and healthy. No-make-up make-up for lips”
LiB Tip: Use it over lipstick to add a touch of shine, or to revive your lippie once it’s dried out or worn off slightly.
