In support of #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek, today we’re speaking to our Managing Director, Charlotte, about our latest partnership with women’s cancer charity, The Eve Appeal. With the recent launch of our #GetLippy box, we’re celebrating the cause by smashing taboos around gynaecological health and opening up the conversation surrounding the huge benefits of supporting such a fundamental charity. So, why are we supporting The Eve Appeal, and why do we think YOU should join us?

Why was The Eve Appeal such an important charity to partner with?
A
Last year was the first year we partnered with this very worthwhile charity, The Eve Appeal. The Eve Appeal is an important charity to Latest in Beauty because it is doing something no other charity is doing. The Eve Appeal is the only UK national charity raising awareness and funding research into the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.
As a majority female team, it is very important that we are all aware of these cancers, the symptoms, who to talk to and how to break taboos about gynaecological health. We love what The Eve Appeal stands for and want to help them spread awareness to as many women in the UK as we can. If that means we can save even one life, then we must be doing something right.

How is Latest in Beauty helping the cause?
A
We have launched our second limited edition Eve Appeal #GetLippy beauty box, which is all about smashing taboos with Latest in Beauty, driving awareness of The Eve Appeal and 10% of each box sold is donated to the charity. We want to help the Eve Appeal by educating our customers. This year’s #GetLippy campaign is all about talking clearly about our anatomy and using correct terminology when it comes to gynaecological health. How do you think we can continue the conversation?
A
Hopefully by supporting this charity, we are giving women the confidence to break the taboo barriers and start to talk about gynaecological health in an educated fashion (without the embarrassment) and try to make friends and family aware of the dangers of these cancers. It is really important to understand your menstrual cycle, know what is normal and what isn’t, be up to date with cervical screening and try to be clear on the right vocabulary that might be required to explain a problem to your doctor. You will help make a real difference to a women’s health.

Most women are fearful of cervical screening, what advice would you give to anyone worrying?
A
First of all, do not worry. Cervical screenings are something very normal for women and it is very important that you get one done. I would suggest that you ask for a female doctor – this will likely make you feel more comfortable when getting your test. We need to take control of our own health journeys, and cervical screenings are absolutely critical to a women’s health. We, as women, should have the confidence to talk about our anatomy without feeling shame or embarrassment. Gynae cancers can kill, so take the time to look after yourself and get tested.
