For this month’s The Beauty Thread, we asked our Business Development Manager, Sophie, to share her go-to pamper routine after a long (and possibly very stressful) week at the office. Here’s what she recommends…
Being part of the team that sources and discovers all of the exciting products that go into all of your lovely boxes, both collection and BYO, is certainly an exciting job, but it does mean that by the end of a busy working day I need some serious pampering to help wind-down! This is why this month’s beauty thread is all about my favourite products to help pamper and give me some glorious TLC!
THE ESSENTIAL PART
As soon as I get home, I immediately rush to remove every scrap of makeup (my favourite time of the day – I pray at the altar of the cleansing gods!). As my colleagues and all my friends know, I am the biggest advocate for a good old double cleanse – it’s a must for everyone, but especially city dwellers! This is where my two essentials come in: La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Derma-soothing Hydrating Cleansing Cream for my first cleanse, followed by one of my all-time favourites, The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter. I have a long commute to and from work, so I use both of these products to ensure that any nasty pollutants, dirt and makeup is well and truly removed while also ensuring I am being gentle and soothing to my some-what sensitive, combination skin.
TIME TO UNWIND
A bath is always calling my name during these dark winter nights, so a long soak in the tub is next on the agenda. While I’m waiting for a bath to run, I’ll pop on the divine Dr Botanicals Cocoa & Coconut Superfood Reviving Hydrating Mask (add to your box) and leave this on my skin for 5-10 minutes depending on how thirsty my skin is feeling. When I’m feeling particularly self-indulgent, I’ll pop in a generous amount of Olverum’s Bath Oil (add to your box). The smell of this oil is UNREAL, and I always feel like my little East London bathroom has transformed into my own personal spa with the aroma of essential oils wafting around. Both of those products are perfect for the drying nature of the cold weather on our skin, so I cannot rate them highly enough to add some nourishing luxury to your beauty arsenal this winter.
Before I completely fall asleep in the bath (I’m totally relaxed by this point) I’ll wrap myself in my favourite dressing gown and start my night-time skincare routine. Two of my new favourites for this season are Patchology’s Perk Up Energising Tea-Infused Aromatherapy Eye Gels (add to your box) and Bubu Skincare’s You Pucker Lip Plumping Mask (coming soon) While I essentially rely on concealer to function on a daily basis, Patchology’s Eye Gels are the perfect remedy for de-puffing and soothing my pesky eye bags (and for hiding any proof of those late nights I am always guilty of!) Bubu’s Lip Mask is a fun new addition to my routine to help plump and moisturise my lips, which can often find themselves becoming dry in the cold – essentially, I aim to moisturise everything that I can! Can you tell? I’ll then remove these and rub the remaining serum into my skin.
NEARLY TIME FOR BED
Finally, I’ll settle down to complete the rest of my skincare routine for the evening. I’ll start by gently sweeping Origins’ Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion across my face using a cotton pad to help tone and soothe my skin. I will then follow this with Jurlique’s sensational Rosewater Balancing Mist (our HOF product for this month – if you haven’t already added this to your bag, what are you waiting for?!) which softens and hydrates my skin, allowing my skin to be the perfect canvas for the rest of my upcoming products. Not to mention, the scent is what dreams are made of! I will then mix a few drops of Omorovicza’s Miracle Facial Oil between my hands and gently press onto my face. This soaks right into my skin and allows my skin to feel plump and full of moisture – it’s the best feeling after a long day. Last steps include me moisturising my face, neck and décolletage with Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Dark Spot Correcting Glycolic Night Cream, which literally helps me feel like I am waking up with new and renewed skin. Pop on my favourite Fresh Sugar Coconut Hydrating Lip Balm, and I am good to go for the best night’s sleep ever!
