Give it a miss: Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco

Bumble & Bumble is one of my favourite haircare brands ever. Every styling product I’ve tried I’ve fallen in love with instantly. I can’t live without their thickening spray and also have a soft spot for the straightening lotion, styling creme and shine spray. When it comes to styling products, I truly believe that nobody does it better and almost everything I use is Bumble & Bumble.

So that makes it all the more difficult to say just how much I hated the Creme de Coco conditioner (£18.50). This truly is the runt of the litter!

I’d deliberately saved some mini bottles of this conditioner and its matching shampoo for a holiday because they were just the right size for a week away. I trusted B&B to do a good job on my tangle-prone, thick coloured hair as I’d had such good experiences with their products in the past.

Oh, how wrong I was. Though the shampoo was fine – it made my hair clean and smelled yummy – the conditioner was rubbish. More than rubbish, it was useless. So much so that I had to go out and buy anything else I could find that’d give my hair a bit more life.

The main problem was that the conditioner just didn’t seem to condition at all. It was super-light to apply and smelt gorgeously of coconuts, but that’s where the good points ended. It left my hair tangled, wiry and fuzzy, without any hint of the softness I’m used to. It felt like I’d washed my hair with washing up liquid. The conditioner promises to be lightweight but suitable for dry and dull hair, but obviously it’s not enough for my dry and dull hair!

Now, I’m not a haircare snob. I’ve tried everything from salon ranges to stuff from the 99p shop, and have also tried various SLS-free and natural products and with very few exceptions, I’ve always had decent results. It’s rare that I find a shampoo or conditioner that doesn’t work to some extent. Though my hair is thirsty for moisture, it’s also not too picky about how it gets it, so such bad results from one of the most expensive conditioners on the market didn’t impress me at all.

I’ll be giving Bumble & Bumble conditioners a wide berth from now on, but I stick by what I say about the styling products, which are some of the best you’ll ever come across. I guess with all those hits, there had to be a miss somewhere along the line, and unfortunately, I think I found it!
