The votes have been counted and the results are in! For the last few weeks we’ve been asking you to vote for the best in beauty over the last 12 months. Forget ‘cult’ items and the beauty hall of fame, this isn’t about what we already know is good. Our New Year Honours recognise the brand new products that have really made an impression. After all, we’re all about the LATEST in beauty!
Without further ado, the winners are…
At-home nail art without any of the fiddly bits or long drying time? It’s no wonder you guys voted for Nail Rock Nail Wraps as your favourite nail product of the year. Allowing us to try trends like metallic and animal print without the need for a pricey salon trip, these stick-on transfers bond using heat and last for days.
Clearly sunkissed limbs are still very much sought after, as this rich, high-end tanning lotion nabbed the prize in the body category. Promising a natural-looking but very deep tan with just one application (and with none of the smell) Xen-Tan’s luxe lotion is a safe way to get a celebrity-style tan.
We’ve raved about this Icelandic miracle serum in the past, so we’re happy to see plenty of people agree with us that BIOeffect have created something very special indeed in their tiny bottle of liquid magic. Start saving those pennies though. Young, smooth, fabulous skin comes at a price – £125 to be exact.
Blowing shampoos, styling products and deep conditioners out of the water (no pun intended!) this no mess at-home colourant from John Frieda was a runaway winner in the hair category. Obviously, voters love a quick fix with this fast developing foam colourant that covers greys and stays vibrant for week.
Mineral makeup is notoriously expensive, but e.l.f offer fantastic entry-level offerings if you’re on a budget. The mineral lipstick (£3.50) comes in a plethora of wearable shades and offers long-lasting, hydrating colour all day long. No wonder you voted it the best new lip product.
When Urban Decay decide to ‘do’ nudes, they don’t get dull! The Naked palette contains 12 generous shadow pans in a variety of non-boring beiges and browns that are perfect for creating everything from subtle washes of colour to a shimmery smoky eye. No wonder this sells out as soon as new stock hits the shelves.
Making huge old-fashioned roller sets a thing of the past, Cloud Nine’s innovative new product heats rollers one by one in its super-fast ‘pod’ for long-lasting curls. Voters obviously love the idea of custom building the perfect set by buying the rollers and pod separately, and it’s also a big hit in salons.
Another win for the bargainous e.l.f, who this time offer up a cream liner pot in various flattering colours that’s a great alternative to pricier gel eyeliners from department store brands. £3.50 brings you long-lasting drama with a subtle shimmer, and there’s even a brush included!
When Harry Potter star Emma released the first photo of her dramatic pixie crop, it was clear she’d gone to dramatic lengths to leave Hermione Granger behind. The edgy crop worked perfectly with her delicate features, and was definitely one of the celeb beauty highlights of the year!
No surprises here, as e.l.f not only wins in two product categories, but also gets your vote for Brand of The Year. The bargain online beauty retailer has gone from strength to strength in the last year, offering quality products from as little as £1.50 each. We love e.l.f, and clearly so do you!
Thank you so much to everyone who voted, and also to all the amazing bloggers who helped us put together the shortlist: Kiss and Makeup, Lipglossiping, Almost Zara, Beauty Swot, Beauty Bottled, The Beauty Quest, Oxford Jasmine, Fur Coat, No Knickers & HJI, DINKY London, OSOblog and Catwalk Queen.
