The Topshop Christmas Make-up Range will hit stores later this year with prices ranging from £5-£17.

Beauty News: Bobbi Brown Neons & Nudes

Neons and Nudes

In Bobbi Brown‘s own words, “The most modern way to wear bright colour is an accent on an otherwise neutral face”. We couldn’t agree more, and with the new Neons and Nudes collection from the make-up supremo herself, it is as easy as 1-2-3.

The new range includes the accents you need to inject a little colour into your otherwise neutral look; pair the Ultra Violet Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow with an Uber Beige nude lip or try the Citrus Lip Gloss with the Limited Edition Ultra Nude Eye Palette (which includes six neutral shades). If you’re feeling brave, don’t be afraid to play mix and match with the brightest of shades – if ever there was a season to do it, this is it.

The Neons & Nudes collection is available online and at selected Bobbi Brown counters nationwide, with prices starting from £15.50.

5 minutes with…Fearne Cotton
Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Fearne Cotton is cool, end of. And not just TV cool; off duty cool – the pap pics of her leaving her Radio One show are enough to make me throw my entire wardrobe in the bin and start afresh.

She’s applied that same stamp to her beauty gift collection, exclusively to Boots. The 16-product range includes Fearne’s Nail Gift, £12 and my favourite, the Fearne Beauty and the Bag, £20; the ultimate day to night kit in a rocking leopard print bag.

Fearne Christmas collectionWe caught up with her for a quick chat…

What was the inspiration behind the gift collection?

Vintage prints, fun Christmas make up looks and all round glamour.

How involved are you with the whole process?

I’m there from the very start with the mood boards for the design, I then pick out all the colours for the pallets which takes me a while but it’s my favourite bit!

What’s your dream beauty gift?

I would love to go and have a nice facial to relax please.

Do you have a tried and tested party look?

Bright red lip and a simple eye always looks classic!

What about the next day – how do you look bright eyed and bushy tailed?

Always take your make up off before bed and moisturise! SPF all summer too…

How has your beauty regime evolved over the past few years?

I’m more thorough now I’m in my 30s. It’s important to put the work in now before I get too old and wrinkly.

The three beauty products you can’t live without?

Moisturiser, lip balm and mascara.

What beauty innovation, product or trend are you excited about for next year?

Nail art. I’ve got zebra and leopard print in my range.

Tried & Tested: L’Oreal Glam Shine 6h lipgloss
Thursday, May 19th, 2011

I’ll start this review on a pedantic note. The colour of Glam Shine 6h lipgloss I tried was labelled ‘Oriental Fuschia’. It was part of a gift set that came with a £15 spend in on L’Oreal products in Boots just before Christmas, and I assume this particular colour was included because L’Oreal realised they’d spelled ‘Fuchsia’ wrong (ha!) and needed to shift the stock, as it’s not available any more. Always Pink is probably the closest dupe.

But onto the gloss itself. You may recognise the Glam Shine range as it’s currently being hawked by ‘national treasure’ Cheryl Cole in every prime-time ad break. It has a very distinctive applicator – L’Oreal say it’s heart-shaped, but I have taken to thinking of this as the ‘vulva’ lipgloss. Yep, try to get that image out of your head now!

Jokes aside, I actually really rate the applicator. It’s soft and spongy and covers the lips quickly and neatly, and is so well-shaped you can probably touch-up without using a mirror (a la Angelina Jolie at the Golden Globes).
