THE SOIL ASSOCIATION TAKEOVER
For ONE WEEK ONLY, this month we’ll be delivery a takeover from the Soil Association, putting the spotlight on the organic beauty products you need to try. Founded in 1946, the Soil Association is a charity and certification body for all things organic across varying sectors such as food, farming, forestry, fashion, textiles, beauty and wellbeing. So what is organic beauty? In the simplest terms, organic refers to any produce from organic farming that does not allow the use of synthetics fertilisers, genetically modified (GM) ingredients and herbicides (weed killer). Organic cosmetics use these organic ingredients (such as calendula or lavender) wherever possible. Certified organic cosmetics ensures that everything from farm to finished product can be traced. To make sure organic products work and don’t go off too quickly, many cosmetic products need ingredients that don’t come from nature, such as emulsifiers, which blend oil and water.
