As a team of established beauty experts, we’ve got our fingers on the pulse when it comes to knowing the latest the beauty industry has to offer. Want to be kept in the know? Our Trend Report will give you all the beauty news and new launches you’ve been craving. So, let’s see what’s trending this week…
With 2021 comes promises of award ceremonies bidding farewell to zoom screens and hello to the ever-inviting red carpet. The gatherings themselves may not be as crowded as usual, but that doesn’t mean the select few attendees have fallen short on appearances. With doting eyes we’ve watched and waited for our favourite (and achievable) Oscar beauty looks to appear, and we were not disappointed. Read on to find our verdict on what looks have set the trend for the rest of the award and SS21 season…
BACK WITH A BANG
If Margot Robbie does it then you know it’s golden, if Halle Berry joins in then you know it’s a must, throw in a subtle nod from Viola Davis plus a full fringe from Andra Day, then we can confirm… it’s a full blown trend. Sporting freshly clipped locks, both Robbie and Berry showcased face framing bangs for their 2021 red carpet debut, whilst Davis’ natural curls fell subtly onto her forehead. Now that the salons are back open, we know the itch to try something new is real. Whether you opt for a split in the middle part, or a full fringe – if bangs have been on your brain, our advice is quite simply… do it.
Wearing masks has led to a little bit of a love/hate relationship with our favourite beauty essential, but if the Oscars have shown us anything they’ve proven that the lipstick is back and it’s bolder than ever. Now, the Spring/Summer season usually brings with it shades of peach, nude and pink but this year, we’re saying to hell with tradition and hello to the rainbow. Reds, crimsons and deep purples were all spotted on the carpet this week; a particular favourite of ours was served by Vanessa Kurby, slaying a sultry burgundy.
GLOW AND GO
We can never turn a blind eye to a natural glow, it’s the perfect thrown-together look that a lot of us turn to for Summer. Thankfully, this year subtle glow has the Hollywood seal of approval. Whilst sporting her go-to Grecian goddess hairstyle (a middle part with waves), Zendeya stunned with her bold brows and glowing skin. If you’re looking for an easy to achieve glow at home, start off by introducing products like tanning drops or a dewy cc cream into your routine. One of our favourite glow getting hacks is a multi purpose balm – one that can act as a highlighter, brow gel and lip balm, like the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Finish off your look with a hydrating (or even shimmery) facial mist and there you have it, a low maintenance, on trend look that requires minimal upkeep. We think so.
